The Cabin
We have a bit of a reputation with our friends and family for taking on ambitious and unique projects. Our cabin is certainly one of the most special of these projects!

By chance, Brad stumbled upon an online auction where Twitter was selling historical cabins. Trust me, we were confused too!
Since we moved on to the farm, we have slowly developed different areas. As each of our projects came together over the years, one section of our yard always stayed empty. We just couldn't quite figure out what to put there, but we knew it had to be something special!
We are told that our cabin is one of the oldest cabins in the US. It sat for nearly 200 years in remote Montana, mostly uninhabited. Several years ago, the Twitter company decided to disassemble several of these cabins, ship them to San Francisco, and rebuild them inside of their headquarters!
The cabins were reassembled and fitted with seating & TVs to be used in the employee lunchroom as a break area. When they decided to remodel, they were placed up for sale at auction- and we bought one!
The cabin was delivered to us in pieces, and we put it back together like a puzzle; a real-life Lincoln-log!

It is seated on a concrete slab and fitted with a steel roof to protect the wood from the elements.
With help from our family members, we painstakingly laid a large brick paver patio in front of the cabin to expand the space.
We kept the seating that Twitter installed and have been slowly decorating the inside to our taste. Small changes like adding vintage art and lamps, an outdoor rug, and (naturally), a large bronze moose bust have made the cabin feel like it belongs on our farm!

The cabin is one of the most special places on our farm. In addition to adding fascinating history and charm, it has proven to be very useful!
I love arranging flowers and starting seeds in the shade it provides.
Our family loves using the cabin to entertain guests. Most recently and excitingly, my niece got engaged inside of the cabin, which was truly magical!
This historical building has also proven to be a wonderful venue for our workshops!

We are so grateful to have such a unique and beautiful piece of history on our farm! We hope it will far outlast us here, and that many more generations can enjoy it's story, shade and magic!
